Here we are once more at the edge of the holiday season. We’re making our lists and checking them twice, grocery lists that is. Put plainly, it’s Pig-Out season. Most of us have already mentally written up our permission slips to ourselves to indulge 'til we bulge. I have. Come on, admit it, in the back of your mind you have as well. It’s an indulgence we all plan on and its part of the holiday tradition. So count your blessings and count a few calories, if you must.
I grew up with a small family circle in comparison to most of the people I know today. We did share a few Thanksgiving dinners together. Mostly I remember hunting trips over the long Thanksgiving weekends. I gave thanks for not having to wash all those pots, pans and dishes. Thanksgiving wasn’t a big part of my family tradition, but I can appreciate the gathering today with friends. I can just melt into the heartwarming comfort of our blessings. We can all be moved by the history of the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving roots.
Imagine, if you will, the entire world coming together for a Thanksgiving Feast. What if the whole world sat down together and gave thanks for all the blessings each one of us has, followed by a moment of silence to soak it all in. We could then gaze deeply into each other’s eyes over pumpkin pie with whipped cream. We could share an amazing moment of ?? Peace ??
Well, now that we’ve solved the unrest problem of the world, I can ask, who would get stuck with all the dishwashing after the World Wide Pig-Out?
I realize how far- fetched my pondering can become at times. I admit to being a crazy dreamer! But someone has to dream BIG for everyone. World-wide solutions start with a BIG dream!
