(LAS CRUCES, N.M.) – Individuals and companies in New Mexico that produce food and other agricultural items are invited to be vendors at a two-day event happening in Las Cruces later this month.
The second annual HomeGrown: A New Mexico Food Show & Gift Market happens November 21-22 at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, located at 4100 Dripping Springs Road. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Last year's inaugural HomeGrown event drew more than 2,000 people and featured 33 vendors with everything from salsas to honey-based salves, pinto beans to soaps, wines to woolen crafts, and much more. This year, there's room for as many as 50 vendors.
Given its strong connections to and support of the state's local food and agriculture community, New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) is helping recruit vendors. Companies that sign up or are already signed up as members of NMDA's NEW MEXICO—Taste the Tradition/Grown with Tradition® logo program can participate as HomeGrown vendors at no cost. Companies interested in selling at HomeGrown should call Rachel Banegas at the museum at 575-522-4100.
NMDA will also bring its mobile kitchen/food trailer to the museum's courtyard in order to prepare and sample some of the very New Mexico foods available for purchase at the HomeGrown show.
Admission to HomeGrown is $5 per vehicle, and the first 100 vehicles each day will receive a free burlap shopping bag. The bags can also be purchased at the event for $5.
Several authors will be on hand to sign and sell their books, as will Santa Claus himself to pose for photos.
