"Falling Down--Remaining Whole" will be the topic on Sunday, June 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City, 3845 N. Swan Street. The speaker will be Hiram Lewis, a Hapkido instructor for eight years at the Town of Silver City Recreation Center. Mr. Lewis has taught martial arts for more than 25 years and holds a 3rd degree black belt.

According to Mr. Lewis, falling is a major cause of injury, and older persons are most in danger. Older persons tend to be less stable in balance and to have more brittle bones. He notes that the principles of safe falling are not difficult. These principles, along with situational awareness, should provide a lesser chance of injury.

For the demonstration portion of the program, Mr. Lewis will be assisted by Randal Seyler and James Fitzgerald, who will help demonstrate different types of falls and how to deal with them.

The Fellowship welcomes visitors to join in the services, and invites guests to get acquainted over coffee, tea and cookies following the program.
