Planning is underway for Saturday, December 12, when members of the Grant County community will gather to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Day. The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at Fort Bayard National Cemetery.
Last year over 700,000 memorial wreaths were placed at more than 1000 locations across the USA including the wreath covering of all 226, 535 markers at Arlington National Cemetery.
The mission of Wreaths Across America, a 501©3 organization since 2008, is to "remember, honor and teach." "Remember the fallen, honor those who serve, including their families who sacrifice, and teach our children the cost of freedoms we enjoy each day."
Won't you please join other individuals, organizations and businesses who are helping by sponsoring wreaths to place at Fort Bayard cemetery markers this December? Each wreath costs $15. However, for every two wreaths purchased, an additional third wreath will be donated to the Fort Bayard Cemetery.
