I guess we must be doing something right because we recently had a visit from a couple of hard-core conservatives.
One gentlemen left us a sizable donation and said he thought we were dong a pretty good job and appreciated our stance for God, country, family and how neighbors should be helping neighbors in a spirit of community.
Another old rancher had read one of our articles and decided to try and put a homeless guy to work at the ranch, if they would go.
Last I heard, the man was still gainfully employed and he was getting some work out of the fellow.
Many times when I talk to some of the old-timers around town, they’ll tell me that we shouldn’t be feeding anyone if they can get out there and earn it themselves. And I tell them that’s exactly the way I feel too.
But we still have plenty of folks around here that really need some help, are just down on their luck or are completely unable to care for themselves and have nowhere else to turn.
Do we get taken advantage of sometimes by freeloaders and bums?
There are a few, but I think we are able to reach some of them anyway with our examples of hard work and Christian love and with the beginning stages of a ‘Time Bank’ where they will be able to do simple jobs like yard work in exchange for ‘Time Dollars’ they can use for other needed services, I think we will be able to reach a few more.
This is a hard job and it is does have a lot of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual work involved and our staff does a bang up job.
While we may not be able to please everyone all of the time and we’ll keep on doing what we’re doing, it’s nice to know that we are pleasing some. Thanks guys!
