RESERVE, NM; June 18, 2015, 7:00 p.m. – For Immediate Release – The Pinon Fire grew to 365 acres on the Reserve Ranger District today. The lightning-caused fire started Tuesday, June 16, east of Eagle Peak and is being managed to achieve multiple resource objectives such as protecting wildlife habitat, cultural resources and livestock forage in the area.
About 12 personnel – including two engines and crews – are assigned to the incident. Today, crews worked along Forest Road 94 to reinforce the western boundary of the fire. Fire activity was characterized as low to moderate, moving primarily north, northeast through ponderosa pine, oak and mixed conifer.
