Silver City, NM August 4, 2015 - A community hearing to assess public support for Desert Willow School, a proposed elementary charter for the Silver City area, has been scheduled for Thursday, August 20 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at the Grant County Administration Center, Commissioners' Chambers on Highway 180 East. The Public Education Commission (PEC), invested with the authority to grant school charters, will hear from the school's organizers, a representative from the local school district, and the public at this time, as well as asking questions of the founders. The proposed elementary school would offer an arts and movement-integrated curriculum, full support for reading skills, a second language program and rich community linkages.
